The Santa Cruz County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office in collaboration with University of California Cooperative Extension will be holding an outreach training on the Invasive Shothole Borer (ISHB) on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the Live Oak Community Center in Santa Cruz (located at the Simpkins Family Swim Center at 979 17th Ave in Santa Cruz).

This half-day training will provide updates on the current ISHB (Greater shothole borer) infestation in Santa Cruz County, along with presentations on monitoring, identification, biology, management, and mitigation strategies. The program also includes a field session covering trap deployment, response protocols, and a tree injection demonstration. ISA Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for eligible attendees. Registration and sign-in will take place the morning of the training upon arrival.
