UC Cooperative Extension: California Targeted Grazing Short Course

The University of California Cooperative Extension is offering a new short course on targeted grazing, beginning on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The short course will feature an evening webinar every Tuesday for ten weeks covering a variety of topics including the fundamentals of targeted grazing, animal health and genetic management practices to optimize animal performance, and business management and planning for targeted grazing enterprises. The short course will culminate with an in-person field day at UC Davis on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Each webinar, as well as the field day, will feature research-based information from UCCE advisors and specialists, as well as real-world applications from experienced targeted grazing practitioners. Registration is $60 per person. Participants can register at here.

Register by February 13th, 2026

The short course is designed to provide practitioners, resource managers, landowners, students, and fire professionals with information on using grazing to reduce fuel loads and manage both vegetation and landscapes. Participants who attend at least eight webinars and the field day will receive a certificate of completion.

This short course is funded in part by a grant from the Renewable Resources Extension Act. For more information, contact Dan Macon at dmacon@ucanr.edu or (209) 454-8472.
